China: The Romance of Realpolitik (September/October 1989)

Feb 1, 2011

This article was first published in the September/October issue of the magazine Freedom at Issue (published by Freedom House), after the Tiananmen Square massacre of June 1989.

Wrote author Miriam London in December 2010: "This article confronts the failure of the 'China experts' in academe to penetrate the reality of Maoist rule and notes their 'role' in U.S. policy toward China. It may also help to explain why it has taken half a century for the true dimensions of Mao's famine to become generally known and accepted as fact in the West!"
